| dc.description.abstract | Scrap Tyre Is Considered To Be One Of The Very Common And Significant Solid Wastes And Its Production Is Increasing Due To The Increased Number Of Vehicles In Both Developed And Developing Countries. Initiatives Are Being Taken To Overcome The Fossil Fuel Crisis By Looking For Alternatives To Replace Gasoline And Diesel Fuel. This Thesis Aims The Production Of Liquid Fuel From Waste Tyres Pyrolysis And Studying The Characterization Of The Produced Fuel Similar To Conventional Diesel Fuel And Its Utilization In Diesel Engine. The Importance Of Doing This Study Is To Find Out Ways To Recycle The Waste Tyres Into Products To Reduce The Amount Of Waste Tyres In Ethiopia. Recycling Provides A Sustainable Source Of Materials By Processing A Priority Waste So That It Can Enter Into A New Cycle Of Life-Extending The Functional Values. In This Context Pyrolysis Of Scrap Tyres Can Be Used Effectively To Produce Oil, Thereby Solving The Problem Of Waste Tyre Disposal. As These Are The Non-Renewable Resources It Is Difficult To Predict Availability Of These Resources In Future, Resulting In Uncertainty In Its Supply And Price And Is Impacting Growing Economies Due To This Many Attempts Have Been Made By Different Researchers To Find Out Alternate Fuels For Internal Combustion Engines. This Thesis Focuses On The Performance Characteristics Of Diesel Engine Using Liquid Fuel Distilled From Tyre Oil Blended With Diesel Fuel. In This Work, Crude Oil From Waste Tyre Is Obtained Using Pyrolysis Method At Temperature Range Of 800-9000c And The Tyre Diesel Oil Is Produced Using A Process Called Distillation. The Exact & Appropriate Reaction Temperature Range Of 200-270 0c Was Reached The Distillation. Fuel Properties Of The Pyrolytic Distilled Oil And Blended Oil Were Analysed With Astm. Performance Analysis Is Done On Chassis Dynamometer On Four Stroke, Four Cylinder Diesel -Engine. Brake Power, Brake Torque And Brake Specific Fuel Consumption Of Produced Diesel Blends Shows Similar Pattern With Slight Reduction Of Brake Power And Torque As The Blend Ratio Increased As Compared To That Of Diesel Fuel On Performance Test Result. The Selected Important Properties Of The Diesel Were Measured And All This Properties Are In The Limits Of The Test Standard For All Blends Of The Diesel Tested. The Blended Of The Tyre Diesel In This Work Uses A Mixture Of Liquid Tyre Oil And Diesel Fuel With Volumetric Compositions Of Liquid Tyre Oil: Ado (B0): Dtpo (B100), And 20% Dtpo: 80% Ado (B20) | en_US |
