Abstract
This Study Was Designed To Extract And Characterize The Lycopene Extracted From Koshim Fruit Juice. The Optimization Of The Solvent Extraction Process For The Maximum Extract Of Lycopene From Koshim Was Carried Out By Selecting The Suitable Solvent System. For Analysis Of Lycopene We Used A Fast And Simple Spectrophotometric Method, At 444nm And 450nm For Methanol,446nm And 472nm For Hexane And 445nm,450nm And 453nm In Tri-Mixture Extracted At 200c, 250c,500c And 800c At Time Of 10,20 ,30 And 60 Minutes Respectively. The Lycopene Concentration Was Expressed Mg/100g Product. In Koshim Extraction The Lycopene Content Had The Following Values: In Methanol Approximately (0.179-0.182) Mg/100g, In Hexane Approximately (0.023-0.049) Mg/100g, In Mixture Of (Hexane: Acetone: Ethanol) At 500c, 800c Are (0.195-0.230) And (0.107-0.141) Mg/100g Respectively. The Optimization Of The Solvent Extraction Was Explored Amongst Three Extraction Methods; Hexane, Methanol And Tri-Mixture To Choose For The Best Extraction Of Lycopene From Koshim Fruit Juice. Therefore, The Objective Of The Thesis Work Is Spectrophotometric Characterization Of These Dovyalis Abyssinica Fruits(Koshim) In Different Solvents And Based On This, Develop Reliable, Fast, Simple And Inexpensive Methods For Determination Of Lycopene Spectroscopic Methods.
