Road Traffic Accident Analysis Based On Vehicle Accident Perspective: A Case Of Adama City

Abstract

Road Traffic Accident Is The Major Cause Of Human Injury, Human Death, And Economic Resources Loss All Over The World. About 1.35 Million Deaths Occur Each Year Worldwide Due To Road Traffic Accidents Which Of About 70 Percent Of The Deaths Occur In Developing Countries. The Literature Indicated That 23 Percent Of The Deaths Involve Pedestrians, Out Of Which 35Percent Are Children. The Objective Of This Study Is To Assess Road Traffic Accident Analysis Based On Vehicle Accident Perspective. And Also, The Researcher Targeted To Analyze The Causes, Contributions, Determinant Factors, And Effects Of Road Traffic Accident With Regards To It??S Over All Linkage With Vehicle Accidents. This Study Tried To Explore How Road Traffic Accident Is A Human Life Threat In The Adama City. The Methods Followed Were Purposive And Simple Descriptive Statistics Of Primary And Secondary Sources Of Data Such As Literatures, Reports, Policy, And Research Documents. Based On Responses From Respondents And Documents From Responsible Offices Detailed Analysis Was Done. Thematic, Content And Comparative Data Analysis Techniques Were Applied To Analyze The Data Gathered Through Interviews. To Fulfill The Objective Of The Research, The Researcher Had Given Attention To Collect Accident Data From Different Pertinent Transport Authorities In Adama Such As Oromia Transport Authority Office, Adama City Transport Authority Office, And Adama Town Traffic Office, Road Data, And Field Observations. For Better Awareness Creation In Reducing Road Traffic Accident Educational Implications Of The Study Were Also Included With Respect To Global Level, Country Level, Regional Level, And Finally Respective Tvet Level. And Also This Study Was Recommended For Striving The Road Traffic Safety Treats In Adama Town. Hence, The Result Of The Study Showed The Existence Of Large Difference In Road Traffic Accident Victims Among Drivers, Passengers, And Pedestrians In Their Sex And Age Levels. The Male Drivers, Passengers, And Pedestrians Were The Most Affected One As Compared To Females. From Day Of The Week Road Traffic Accidents Reached Maximum On Tuesday. In Conclusion To Have Accident Free Road Traffic, Enhanced And Consistent Drivers?? Training, Refreshers, And Testing, Awareness Creation On How To Use The Road To Pedestrians And School Children, Strict Employment Of Law Enforcement, For Risky Overtaking And Over Loading, Constructing Side Walkways, Marking New Zebra Crossing And Remarking The Faded Ones, And Employment Of Easy Accident Data Recording System For Further Study And Enhancement Of Road Traffic.
