This Abstract Examines The Specific Challenges And Prospects Associated With Urban Upgrading In The District Of Lideta, Which Is Characterized By A Mix Of Residential, Commercial, And Institutional Areas. The Research Draws On Primary Data Collected Through Interviews, Surveys, And Site Visits, As Well As Secondary Sources Including Scholarly Articles, Government Reports, And Urban Development Plans. The Challenges Of Urban Upgrading In Lideta Are Multifaceted And Include Inadequate Infrastructure, Unplanned Settlements, Population Growth, Inadequate Housing, And Limited Access To Basic Services. Additionally, Issues Such As Traffic Congestion, Waste Management, And Environmental Degradation Further Exacerbate The Urbanization Challenges. These Challenges Are Compounded By The Historical And Cultural Significance Of Lideta, Requiring A Careful Balance Between Preservation And Development. Despite The Challenges, Lideta Presents Prospects For Successful Urban Upgrading. The Study Identifies Key Prospects Such As Infrastructure Improvements, Sustainable Housing Initiatives, Innovative Transportation Solutions, And Community Participation In Urban Planning And Decision-Making Processes. Leveraging These Prospects Could Lead To A Sustainable Urban Environment, Improved Living Conditions, And Enhanced Economic Opportunities For Lideta's Residents.
