Abstract

The purpose of this study was to assess the implementation of one to five cooperating learning and the aptitudes of teachers and students towards it Negelle Preparatory School English classroom context. To accomplish this questionnaire, interview along with classroom observation were used to collect the data. Ninety students were selected through random sampling techniques and three teachers were participated in the study. This study used both quantitative and qualitative method to analyse the data. The finding of this study showed that Preparatory EFL teachers rarely use one to five cooperative learning in their classroom and that is less effective in teaching and learning English language. Therefore it can be concluded that teachers and students did not implement one to five cooperative learning, their attitudes towards it seem to be negative, the majority of participants did not seem to have clear perception about one to five cooperative learning and teachers and students were not play their expected roles. It is recommended that students need to be thought the appropriate interactional skill knowing how to work effectively, teachers lessons and tasks need to be well organised and assign roles for every individuals.
