Abstract
Dump Trucks Are Used To Transport Materials Like Sand, Gravel, Rocks, And Dirt In Construction, Mining, And Agricultural Sectors. However, These Trucks Are Not Effective In Terms Of Spare Tyre Handling Mechanism Since The Currently Existing Spare Tyre Handling Mechanism Takes More Time, Is Quite Cumbersome, Unreliable, And Causes Fatigue To The Driver During Spare Tyre Replacement. In Previous Research Works, Different Attempts Have Been Made To Minimize Such Challenges For Vehicles. But For Dump Trucks, These Problems Have Not Been Improved Yet. This Thesis Is Mainly Concerned About The Design And Analysis Of The Spare Tyre Handling Mechanism For The Howo 336 Dump Truck. To Meet The Objectives Of The Thesis, Steps Which Are Included In The Methodology Like Literature Review, Data Collection, Modelling Of Spare Tyre Handling Mechanism Using Solid works, Static And Dynamic Analysis Using Ansys Workbench Are Followed. According To Static Analysis, The Maximum Equivalent Stress Of The Structure Is 128.69 Mpa And The Maximum Shear Stress Is66.67 Mpa Which Is Less Compared To The Yield Strength Of The Material. The Vertical Structure Of The Mechanism Rotates 86 Degrees Within 8 Seconds To Lift The Spare Tyre. When A New Spare Tyre Handling Mechanism Is Used, The Time To Lift And Lower The Spare Tyre Is Decreased By 98.9% Compared To A Manual Method And Decreased By 66.9% Compared To The Chain Block Method. The Newly Developed Mechanism Is Reliable, Easy To Access And Minimizes Downtime.
