Due To Its Advantageous Thermal Conductivity Characteristics, Asbestos Has Been Utilized As A Brake Lining Material For Vehicles For A Very Long Time. However, It Has Been Banned And Fallen Out Of Use Because Of The Health Risk Connected To Its Handling, And A Number Of Substitute Materials Are Being Utilized More Frequently. The Objective Of This Study Was, To Make Brake Lining From Oxen Horn Particulate Composite Through Simulation And Experimental Study. Epoxy Resin, Graphite, And Silicon Oxide Were Combined With Oxen Horn Particles To Create An Asbestos Free Drum Brake Lining For A Minibus Taxi 5l Model. By Hand Layup Molding, Three Different Sample Composite Brake Linings Were Created. Composite One Was Developed With Oxen Horn Particle 40%, Epoxy 30%, And Gr And Sio2 At 15%. In Composite Two, Oxen Horn Particle Was30%, Epoxy Is 40%, And Gr And Sio2 Are 15%. Composite Three Is Prepared By Reducing The Oxen Horn Particle To 25% And Epoxy To 35%, Gr, And Sio2 To 25%. Modeling Of The Representative Volume Element Of The Brake Lining Was Conducted In Msc Digimats 2017 With Different Percentage And Imported To Ansys 2022r1 For Mechanical And Thermal Analysis. The Physical And Mechanical Characteristics Of The Samples Were Investigated According To American Society Of Material Testing. Accordingly, The Average Compressive, Flexural, And Tensile Strengths Were Obtained To Be 171.8, 6.3, And 92.5 Mpa, Respectively. The Coefficient Of Friction, Wear Rate, And Relative Density Were, 0.32, 0.000042 Mg/M, And 1.5 G/Cm3 Respectively, While Water And Oil Absorption Tests Were Below 1% For 24 Hours. From The Simulation Result, It Was Obtained That, The Maximum Principal Stress Was Less Than The Ultimate Strength Of The Sample Obtained From The Experimental Result. These Test Results Were Compared With Available Asbestos-Based Commercial Brake Lining. Due To Better Mechanical Properties Of Oxen Horn Particle, Better Result Was Obtained. Sample Two Was Found To Be Best Composition Which Has Better Mechanical And Tribological Properties Among The Other Composites. The Result Indicates That Cow Horn Particles Can Be Used As Reinforcement In Brake Lining Material For Automobiles.en_US
