Microbubble-based methods, in recent times, have been widely used for purification of water and wastewater. Microbubbles have several physicochemical properties, which make them eminently suitable for wastewater treatment. Size of bubble which has an inverse relation with pressure is one of the important parameter in the separation process of fine particles/solids. There are various DAF systems with different bubbling mechanisms and bubble types. In this study, the pilot high rate DAF system of laboratory scale is developed and tested. The system was evaluated by comparing its efficiency for both microbubble and conventional bubbles generation. The size of bubble generated was analyzed by image analysis software following the photographic bubble size measurement techniques. The mean diameter of bubble generated was found to be 32 µm. The generated bubble was tested for suspended solid removal of pulp wastewater, deinking and aeration system and the result of the conventional and microbubble generation system was checked. The efficiency of microbubble generated was greater by 20% in suspended solid removal and 60% kla increase in aeration system than conventional bubbles.en_US
