| dc.description.abstract | The car door is one of the important components which can be used as protection and safety for passengers in case of accidents and collisions. Side impact crashes can be normally risky because of the fact that there may be no room for massive deformation to protect an occupant from the crash forces. The component effect collision is the second biggest cause of death. Day through day, the growth of the fuel price and the emission of the smoke from the vehicles are also the fundamental issues in the current-days worldwide; in general; the safety, fuel performance and emission laws of the passenger cars are crucial issues inside the modern-day global. Reinforcement with natural fiber in composites has recently gained attention due to low cost, low density, acceptable specific properties, ease of separation, enhanced energy recovery, CO2 neutrality, biodegradability and recyclable nature. The objective of this thesis is to design and fabrication of three-wheeler Bajaj door panel using bamboo fiber reinforced polyester composite materials. To achieve the objectives set, design and fabrication of the component and experimental methods are employed. For this thesis work a raw material selected is bamboo plant. The woven bamboo fiber strip which has been taken as reinforcement and the matrix material (polyester resin) and hardener in this study was purchased from local market. The chemically treated bamboo strip fiber by 5% NaOH with distilled water of 95% applied to purify the bamboo fiber. E- Glass fibers were mixed with polyester resin by simple manual stirring for 15minutes and the mixture was poured into the moulds, keeping in view the requirements of various testing conditions and characterization standards. The composite samples of Bamboo fiber was prepared in three different orientation (0 and 0/90 .The part might require 0° plies to react to axial loads, ±45° plies to react to shear loads, and 90° plies to react to side loads. According to the samples analysis results, 0 orientation was selected for this thesis model. Because the strength design requirements are a function of direction of the applied load. Based on the tensile, compression, bending analysis and water absorption properties, experimental data study results it was found 160MPa(0 The door panel of three wheel Bajaj vehicle was used to develop the geometric model of the door panel by CATIA V5 modeling software. Based on these results, it is recommended that bamboo fiber reinforced with polyester composite materials with strength of 160MPa is suitable for new external structural automotive door panel of three- wheel Bajaj compact 205 model type applications. | en_US |
