Solid Waste Management Is An Important To Provide Hygienic, Efficient, And Economic Solid Waste Storage, Collection, Transportation, And Treatment Or Disposal Of Waste Without Polluting The At Mosphere, Soil, Or Water System. Furthermore, Total Municipal Solid Waste Generated In Develop Ing Country By 2012 Is Expected To Be Double By. The Current Solid Waste Management System In Adama City Is A Very Poor Lack Of Coordination Among Stake-Holders, Insufficient Communal Con Tainers, An Inadequate Number Of Vehicles Deployed, And Unavailability Of A Performance Meas Urement System In The Entire SWM Chain. Therefore, Characterization And Quantifications Of Mu Nicipal Solid Waste Play A Pivotal Role In Formulating Effective Waste Management Policies For Adama City. This Study Aimed To Assess The Quantity, Composition And Generation Rate Of House Hold Solid Waste Of The Study Area Applies Vermicomposting And Natural Composting Methods To Manage A Biodegradable Solid Waste, And Assesses Municipality Solid Waste Management Prac Tices. Results Of This Study Showed The Total Average Domestic Solid Waste Generation Rate Of Sam Pled Households Of Adama Town At Three Group Of Economic Level Low-Income, Mid. Income And High-Income Were 0.1689kg/Cap/Day, 0.21kg/Cap/Day, And 0.575kg/Cap/Day, Respectively. The Average Household Solid Waste Generation Rate Was Found 0.3183kg/Cap/ Day. By Taking The Total Population Of The Study Area In To Account, The Annual Household Solid Waste Generation Rate Of The Town Was Estimated To Be 61561.542tons. A Laboratory Analysis Was Made For Both Ver Micomposting And Natural Composting Methods To Compare The Nutrient Status; Vermicomposting Method Has A Greater Amount Of N, P, K, And OC Contents. Vermicomposting Has More Nutrient Quality Of OC Than Of Conventional Composting As Soon As It Harvested, But The Convention Com Posting Has More Efficiency In Keeping Its Nutrient Of OC For Long Period Time. Natural Compost Ing Has A Greater C: N Content. Therefore, The Municipality Of Adama City Should Adopt Ver Micomposting As MSW Management System.en_US
