Abstract
Construction Work Is Used To Make Various Kinds Of Structures Such As, Railroads, Building, Dams, Runway, Tunnel, Roads Etc. In The Fields To Improve Our Life, And Keep Our Life Comfortable. Earth Moving Equipment??S Are Consisting Of Mainly Dozers, Loaders, Excavators, And Graders. All Implement Tools Of Machines Controlled And Operated By Hydraulic System. Nowadays Almost All The Construction Work Is Done By Machinery. However, Since Operators Operate These Machines, The Quality And Quantity Of Work Depends Upon The Ability Of Operators. So It Needs Skillful Operator To Operate The Machine. To Upgrade The Level Of Skill Of Operators Conducting Training Is Of Paramount Importance. But There Are Many Problems During Operator Training. The Problems Are: Increased Machine Failure, Fuel And Oils Consumption, Emission, Training Time, Total Training Cost Etc. This Thesis Is Focused On The Comparative Study Of Conventional Construction Equipment Operation Training And Simulator-Based Of Construction Equipment Operation Training In Ethiopian Road Authority (Era) At Alemgena Machine Based Technology Training Center (Ambttc). The Two Training Are Given At Ambttc And The Amount Of Fuel And Oils Consumption Found From The Documentation. Data Were Collected By Use Of Direct Observations, Questionnaires, And Interviews Regarding Fuel And Oil Consumption, Etc. Skill And Knowledge Gained By The Trainees From The Two Training Sections Were Also Determined By Interview, Direct Observation, Time Table And Trainer Evaluation Report. There Are Ten Simulators In The Training Center. The Cost Of Each Simulator Was Ten Million Ethiopian Birr With Two Years Guaranty, And Imported From South Africa, But There Was A Maintenance Problem Due To Lack Of Spare Part And Maintenance Expert. From The Questionnaire And Interview, Most Of Trainer??S Response Was M, Because Of Maintenance Problem And Training Schedule. Most Of Trainees Were More Satisfied In Dozer, Loader And Excavator, But In Grader Was Less Satisfied. Fuel And Oil Consumption Of Conventional Training For One Round Was 55,230l And 735.92l Respectively, And In Simulator-Based Training 36,846l & 439.29lRespectively, So That The Reduction In Consumption Was The Profit Of Training Center.
