dc.description.abstractProviding Clean Power To The Utilities Is Important For Reliable And Healthy Operation Of Electrical Equipment's Of The End Users. In This Era The Advancements In Industrial Control Technology Is In The Growing Pace And Using Of Non-Linear Load Introduce Non-Linear Characteristics In The Network. This Study Presents The Analysis Of Harmonics Distortion In Metahara Sugar Factory (MSF) Power Distribution Network And Design DSTATCOM With Synchronous Reference Frame (SRF) Control Theory For Harmonics Mitigation For The Results Exceeded The Limits Stated In IEEE And IEC Standard Requirements. The Ratio Of Short Circuit Current To Maximum Load Current (Isc/IL) At Each Transformer Point Of Common Coupling (PCC ) Has-been Computed. The HIOKI 3196 Power Quality Analyzer was Used To Monitor And Collect Real-Time Data At Pccs of Each Transformer. Measured, Computed And Analysed Real Data Showed that There Is Total Harmonics Current Distortion (TDD) At Distribution Transformer#2,6,7,8 And#11 Found 13.58%, 34.79%,10.28%, 8.41% And 24.80% Respectively. The 5th And 7th Order Are The Dominant Individual Harmonics Current Distortion Found At These Transformers?�? Pccs. Distribution Network System Modelling And Simulations With DSTATCOM And Bridge Rectifier For Non-Linear Load Representation Have Done By Using MATLAB/SIMULINK And The Simulation Results Showed That The Total Harmonics Current Distortions Substaially ?Reduced To 3.17%,3.82%,3.59%,3.44% And 4.04% For Tansformer#2,6,7,8 And 11 Respectively, Which Is Below Recommended Harmonics Limits Stated In IEC And IEEE Ducuments.It Is Found Important To Implement The Proposed Harmonic Current Mitigation Device At PCC Of Identified Transformers Distribution Panels To Mitigate Harmonic Current And Improve System Power Factor And Conduct Further Study On Harmonics Problem In Relation With Resonant Frequency At Installed Capacitor Banks In Power Distribution Network Of The Factory.en_US
