Assela Malt Factory Is One Of Industrial Zone Used Medium Temperature In The Kilning Room Which Sourced From The Boiler Room Which Driven By Electric Power. Due To High Electric Consumption For Steam Supply, Assela Malt Factory Need 26,670,600 Kwh Thermal Energy Per Year. Solar Energy Is The Most Abundant Renewable Energy Sources Which Is Accessible And Free To All Countries. In This Study The Performance Of Parabolic Trough Solar Collector Incorporating With Phase Change Materials Is Investigated Which Used As Alternative Energy Sources For Steam Supply In Malt Kilning Process At Assela Malt Factory. A Transient One Dimensional Explicit Finite Difference Method Is Used To Investigate Performance Of Ptsc And Charging Process Of Thermal Energy Storage Which Done By Using Matlab. Maximum Optical And Thermal Efficiency Of Parabolic Trough Solar Collector Is About 76.4% And 70% Respectively. By Increasing Receiver Tube Length Temperature Outlet Of The Collector Also Increasing And Vice Versa. Mass Flow Rate And Ptc Temperature Outlet Have Inversely Proportional. Thermal Energy Storage System With Shell And Tube Configuration Using D-Mannitol As Phase Change Material Is Studied. This Pcm Is Stored In Shell Side And Water (Steam) Used As Htf Flows In The Tube For Transferring Heat From Htf To Pcm. From Numerical Simulation To Fulfill Thermal Energy Demand Of Assela Malt Factory Approximately Around 84 Number Of Parabolic Trough Solar Collectors (1428 Solar Field Area) Of 0.05 Mass Flow Rate Of Heat Transfer Fluid Are Required. To Substitute The Gap During Night Time Mass Of 4139 Kg Of D-Mannitol (Phase Change Materials) And 220 Number Of Htf Tubes With 0.06 M Diameter And 2.7M Length Of Each Tube Are Required. Totally The Results From A Numerical Simulation Are Performed With Meteorological Data Kulumsa Station.en_US
