Abstract
Most Modern Vehicles Are Fitted With Fuel Injection Systems That Allow The Engine Work More Efficiently And Usually Result In Greater Power And Clean Exhaust Emission. This System Work By Forcing Pressurized Fuel Through A Tiny Nozzle That Atomize The Fuel, Allowing It To Burn More Quickly When Mixed With Air. In Ethiopia (Addis Ababa) Interest On Light Duty Vehicles As The Main Choice Of Transport For Workers And Give Service To The Society Has Increased Recently, Mainly Due To The Increasing Fuel Price. The Majority Of The Light Duty Vehicles, Especially Those With Cubic Capacity Less Than 1250cc, Are Equipped With The Conventional Carburetor System. Small Gasoline Fuelled Engines Operating Using Carburetor System, However, Suffers From Low Operating Efficiency, Apart From Producing Hazardous Emissions To The Environment. In Light Of This Situation, In This Project An Attempt Was Made To Develop A Retrofit Fuel Injection Kit To Address Such Challenges Of Meeting Power Requirement Of A Small Cubic Capacity Prime Mover And Also In Complying With The Emissions Regulations Currently Put In Place. Throttle Body Injection Helps In Improving Engine Performance By Assisting In Well Mixing Of Air And Fuel And By Promoting Combustion. Conversion Of Carburetor Fuel System In To Tbi System Has The Following Advantages Such As Improves Fuel Economy, Reduces Environmental Pollution, Improving Engine Performance. So In General, The Society, Automotive Industries, Vehicle Owners And The Country As A Whole Get Benefitted. In This The Electrical Circuit Of The Throttle Body Fuel Injection System Was Designed By Protues Software, Showing All The Electrical Components Clearly In The Layout. The Required Components Like Fuel Pump, Common Rail, Fuel Return Line, Injectors Etc. Are Collected From The Local Market. Components Were Modified As Per The Requirement And Assembled On The Board Which Can Be Used As A Teaching Aid For Demonstration Of The Working Principle Of Tbi System. From The Test Conducted It Was Found That The Kit Was Working Properly. In Addition, The Engine Test Was Conducted To Compare The Performance Of Tbi System With Carburetor Fuel System.
